John A RegoJohn A Rego

John has a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and a background in Geotechnical Engineering, which provides him with a solid foundation for earthwork construction. Some of his more notable soil investigation are Anchorage Rental Car Center ($63 million) and the Dena‘ina Convention Center Parking Garage($110 million). Prior to his formal education, Mr. Rego spent a significant amount of time working as a welder. His welding experience gives him insight into fieldwork and conditions assisting him in performing structural steel and welding inspections. Mr. Rego is an American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector. His recent accomplishments in steel inspection include the new Susitna-Valley Jr./Sr. High School, the Kenai Lowe’s, the Wasilla Sports Authority, and the Homer Hospital Expansion Phase II. Mr. Rego’s responsibilities on these projects included performing visual inspection of moment frame, steel deck welding, high-strength bolting, and nelson studs. He also assisted in performing NDT and ultrasonic testing (UT) of welds. Mr. Rego has ICC certifications in structural steel and bolting as well as structural welding. In February 2009, he received 40 hours of training in NDT of welds by means of UT. This qualified him as a Level I NDT UT technician and also an American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Central Certification Program™ (ACCP™) Level II Visual Technician (VT). Mr. Rego also has extensive experience in performing concrete reinforcement inspection. He is an accomplished inspector of tilt-up concrete panels. His knowledge of concrete tilt-up construction was demonstrated during the construction of the Lowe’s store in the Kenai and is currently the lead inspector on the largest Tilt Up Building in Alaska, The Goose Creek Correctional Center. Mr. Rego was especially helpful to the contractor and the owner in discovering missing imbeds items. Upon discovery of the missing items he would communicate to the contractor the deficiency so the item could be fixed without delays to the project schedule. Mr. Rego is also experienced at performing slab flatness testing
